Grant Funding to Serve the Needs of People Living with HIV in California (USA)
GrantID: 65239
Grant Funding Amount Low: Open
Deadline: Ongoing
Grant Amount High: Open
Summary
This grant program supports nonprofit organizations serving a particular geographic region in California—especially in and around the Sacramento area—that are working to reduce HIV transmission, improve care access, and address gaps in health equity. The purpose is to help ensure that prevention, testing, treatment, and supportive services reach people who are vulnerable or underserved.
Eligible applicants are nonprofit agencies or government entities (such as clinics or public health departments) that have the capacity and mission to work on HIV-related health services. The program is not open to individuals, and organizations that are not 501(c)(3) or otherwise qualified will generally not be eligible. The focus is on agencies serving the region in and around Sacramento and the Northern/Central California area.
The funds may be applied toward a number of related services: HIV prevention (such as outreach, education, condom distribution, or harm reduction), testing and linkage to care, and filling “gaps” in supportive services that are not covered by insurance or other funding (for example, client navigation, transportation, housing support, or case management). The grant also supports innovative or pilot projects that propose new methods or models for reaching underserved populations, improving retention in care, or reducing barriers to diagnosis and treatment.
This program operates on an annual cycle. Applicants must submit a Letter of Inquiry by a specified deadline (e.g. early June), and selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposals by a later summer date (e.g. end of July). Award decisions are typically made by fall, and funded projects generally begin at the start of the new calendar or program year. The foundation also stipulates that the organization should not have applied in prior years beyond limits and must align proposals with defined strategic priorities (prevention, care retention, testing, or innovation).
Overall, this grant is intended to strengthen regional efforts against HIV by stimulating well-designed programs that reach high-need communities, foster collaboration, and support sustainability in vital public health services.
